What MoneyCompare does
MoneyCompare provides comparison and editorial information about selected financial products. Depending on the product and customer journey, MoneyCompare may:
- display information about products offered by third-party providers;
- compare selected product features, rates, fees and eligibility information;
- provide links to a provider, lender, broker or third-party comparison platform; and
- receive commission, referral fees, lead fees or advertising compensation when a user clicks through, applies for or takes out a product.
MoneyCompare does not provide the financial products shown on the website.
Digital Money S.r.l. does not hold client money, lend its own funds, underwrite financial products, make lending decisions, provide custody services or safeguard customer assets.
Credit broker, not a lender
Where regulated credit products are promoted in the UK, Digital Money S.r.l. acts as a credit broker, not a lender.
MoneyCompare does not provide credit, decide whether an application will be accepted, or set the rate or terms offered to a customer.
Acceptance, eligibility, credit limits, rates and other terms are determined by the relevant lender or provider and are subject to its checks and criteria.
Submitting an application does not guarantee that a product will be offered or that the user will receive the representative or advertised rate.
No personal financial advice
MoneyCompare provides general comparison and editorial information. It does not provide personal financial advice or personal recommendations.
The information on the website does not take account of an individual user's financial circumstances, objectives or needs.
Users should review the relevant product information and provider terms and consider whether a product is suitable for their circumstances before applying. Where appropriate, users should seek independent professional advice.
How MoneyCompare works
MoneyCompare displays information about selected financial products and services. When a user chooses to continue with a product, the user will usually be redirected away from MoneyCompare to the relevant provider or another identified third party.
The third party's own terms, privacy notice, application process, eligibility criteria and checks will apply from that point.
MoneyCompare does not control whether an application is accepted, the product offered, the rate provided or the time taken by the third party to process an application.
How MoneyCompare makes money
MoneyCompare is free for users.
Digital Money S.r.l. may receive commission, referral fees, lead fees or advertising compensation from providers and other commercial partners. Payment may be received when a user:
- clicks a link or visits a provider's website;
- starts or completes an application;
- opens an account or takes out a product; or
- completes another agreed action.
The amount and type of payment can vary between providers and products.
Commercial relationships may affect which providers or products appear on the website, where a provider or product is placed, the order in which products are displayed, or any score, featured position or promotional placement shown.
MoneyCompare does not charge users an additional fee for using the comparison service unless a fee is clearly stated before the user proceeds.
The providers and products we compare
MoneyCompare does not compare every provider or every product available in the market.
The website presents a selected panel of providers and products. The size and composition of that panel may vary by product category.
A provider may not appear because MoneyCompare does not have a commercial relationship with it, the product is outside the scope of the comparison, sufficient current information is not available, the provider or product does not meet the relevant inclusion criteria, or the product is not currently available through the website.
Users should not assume that the first product shown is the cheapest, most suitable or best product for their individual circumstances. More information about product selection, ordering and commercial influence is available on the How We Rank page.
How products are ordered
Product order may take account of product features, interest rates, charges, account or product fees, eligibility information, provider information, relevance to the comparison category, and commercial relationships.
Commercial relationships may affect placement, order or scoring. MoneyCompare aims to present product information clearly, but users should compare the full provider terms before making a decision.
Product information, rates and offers
Product information may include rates, fees, features, eligibility conditions, bonuses, cashback offers and other promotional terms. This information can change.
Although MoneyCompare reviews product information periodically, users should confirm the current information directly with the relevant provider before applying.
Where a rate or promotional offer is displayed, users should review the important conditions shown with the product, including any eligibility requirements, minimum or maximum balances, qualifying actions, promotional deadlines, exclusions and charges.
Regulatory status and customer protection
Regulatory status and customer protection arrangements vary between providers and products.
Any reference on MoneyCompare to FCA authorisation, the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, safeguarding or another protection arrangement relates to the relevant provider and product, not to MoneyCompare generally.
Users should check the provider-specific disclosure and product terms to understand what protection may apply. The appearance of a provider on MoneyCompare does not mean that every product or service offered by that provider has the same regulatory or protection status.
Applications, identity checks and credit searches
Providers may carry out identity, fraud prevention, anti-money laundering and eligibility checks.
Some providers may also carry out a soft or hard credit search, depending on the product and whether the user requests an overdraft, credit facility or another form of borrowing. A hard credit search may be recorded on the user's credit file.
Users should check the provider's terms before applying.
Customer information and third-party websites
MoneyCompare does not operate the product application, account opening, identity verification or know your customer process for the financial products shown.
MoneyCompare does not collect the identity, financial or transaction information required to apply for or obtain those products. Where a user chooses to proceed, any information required for registration, an application, identity verification or account opening is provided directly to the relevant provider or third party.
That provider or third party will process the information under its own privacy notice and terms. Information about MoneyCompare's use of cookies, website analytics and communications is available in the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
